And a quick side note.
We noticed a strange issue with some updates. Seems likes EmberSetup detect the new version, but after, try to get the old one.
Some investigation shows us that these issues are caused by Proxy (usually transparent Proxy like Squid).
If your Ember Detects a new version and after upgrade still in same version, please look at your Network configuration and “fix” your proxy

New Version: 1.2 (2 comments)

Added by Jason Schnitzler 4 months ago

This version brings significant feature enhancements through several new and improved addons as well as many bug-fixes and minor improvements over the previous release. Of special interest are the XML Scraper and XBMC Communications modules. The XML Scraper module will allow you to use the XML scraper files from XBMC within Ember (XML files are not included, you will need to copy them from your XBMC installation). The XBMC Communications module has been improved to allow for direct update of the XBMC database (currently movies only).

When installing this version, all of your old modules will be deleted. This version includes a new Addons Manager that makes it easier to install/uninstall addons. You will need to re-download any modules you had installed previously. As noted in the changelog, the username and password you use to log into the Addons server is the same as your account on embermm.com.

Please give all your thanks to Nuno for this one. He did 95%+ of this one alone (although, I did do quite a good job at delaying this release!). So thanks to Nuno for pressing forward while I work through some real-life issues.

New Version: v1.1 (6 comments)

Added by Jason Schnitzler 5 months ago

v1.1 is mainly a bug-fix release over version 1.0, but a few enhancements have sneaked in as well. This version improves all around stability as well as the functionality of key components. We have also included German (created by Tristan Fischer) and French (created by "Tolriq") translations. Once we fix/revamp the Addons Downloader (scheduled for v1.5), they will be available there. As always, if you find any bugs or have any suggestions for improvements, please add them to our Issues Tracker.

Thanks again to our Beta Testing Team and everyone else who has contributed to this build!

New Version: v1.0 (2 comments)

We are proud to officially release Ember Media Manager v1.0. This is almost a complete rewrite from previous releases and many new features have been added, including TV Show support and plugins, and improvements were made throughout the program. Please keep in mind that TV Show support is in its infancy. We will work hard in coming versions to bring it to the same level as Movie support.

The Ember Team would like to thank all of our beta testers and everyone else who contributed to Ember Media Manager v1.0.

Official Beta Testing has begun.

Added by Jason Schnitzler 6 months ago

We were a few days late on beginning official beta testing (thanks to me getting sick and falling behind on my to do list), but we have finally started! While testing of v1.0 Beta 1 and subsequent builds is underway, the Dev Team will continue to work on the final features we want to include in the stable v1.0 release. Once these features are complete and fully tested by the Beta Testing Team, a release will be made. We're still aiming for a 22nd release date, but don't be too surprised if we need to delay a day or two.

New Version: r1105

Added by Bence Nádas 6 months ago

Due to another bug exposed by IMDB changing their page layout again, the Ember Team decided to create an interim release while we work on the next major version update. r1105 is exactly the same as r1104 except with the fix for the cast scraping bug merged in from the main trunk. You can download version r1105 via the Download tab.

Please note: The r1105 version number of this release does not coincide with the r1105 revision of the SVN.

Beta Testers Wanted

Added by Jason Schnitzler 6 months ago

We are looking to create an official team of beta testers that will evaluate versions before they are released. Candidates must be able to read/write English, Portuguese, and/or Hungarian, be willing to fully test every posted build, and be able to provide thorough feedback of each issue they discover. Expect to process 5+ builds in each beta run (multiple Beta through multiple Release Candidate versions).

Beta testing will begin approximately 2 weeks before expected release of each version. For example, version 1.0 is scheduled to be released on March 22, 2010 so we will begin the beta testing process on or around March 8.

If you would like to become a member of the beta testing team, please send an email to with the subject "Beta Testing", your embermm.com username, and a summary of what qualifications you hold (we don't expect all beta testers to be developers, time to test is the #1 qualification we are seeking.... but programming or beta testing experience doesn't hurt either ;)). For now, we will be limiting the beta testing team to 10 members.

Note: Do not expect to become a member of the beta testing team if you do not follow the above instructions properly. Members may be removed from the team at any time without notification if we deem you are not testing thoroughly, are sharing the beta builds to users outside of the team (It's a support nightmare.... so just tell your friends not to report issues to us and we'll never know lol), or do not possess the ability to communicate in a legible fashion.

Thank you to all applicants and we look forward to working with you!
